Dear Colleagues,
In support of the Lab’s mission, our Human Resources, Office of the Chief Financial Officer, and IT teams have been working on an implementation plan for UCPath, a University of California systemwide HR application for payroll, employee benefits, and other HR transactions at the Lab.
UCPath replaces the Lab’s current HR and payroll systems, which will be retired. The new systems will standardize business processes and use a UC shared service center — UCPath Center — to process HR, benefits, and payroll transactions.
Using the UCPath self-service portal on your mobile device or desktop, you will have access to UCPath services such as viewing your accrued vacation balance, making changes to your personal information, managing your benefits, accessing pay stubs and W2s, and other HR-related services. Managers will use the portal to review and approve HR and payroll actions for their direct reports.
UCPath has already been implemented at six of the UC campuses, with the remaining nine — including Berkeley Lab — scheduled over the course of this year. All locations are expected to be transitioned to UCPath by the end of 2019.

While there will be a learning curve as we adapt and evolve to the new system, I am confident that UCPath will bring advantages for the Lab. By joining the UCPath initiative, we ensure that Berkeley Lab will be able to take advantage of the many resources and benefits offered to us as UC employees. As stewards of this great national asset, we have the responsibility to make sure that we reliably deliver on our commitments to our stakeholders. Implementation of UCPath is a part of our important stewardship commitments.
