Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that Bob Warther will join the LBNL operations senior leadership team as Division Director, Projects and Infrastructure Modernization (PIMD) on April 1, 2019. Bob comes to the Lab from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory where he developed and led the project execution group. Prior to that, he worked as a Vice President of Operations at BWXT, a private company that provides technical and management services at more than 12 DOE sites across the country. In addition, Bob has worked on several important large scale US government projects including the American Centrifuge Demonstration project and Y-12 Environmental Restoration during his career.
Bob will lead the PIM division which was recently formed to bring an integrated approach to project management at the Lab. The Lab has numerous high-profile projects, including seismic safety and modernization, and other infrastructure and construction projects and Bob will provide professional and technical leadership to ensure that our projects are delivered within scope, schedule, and budget.
I want to thank Kem Robinson for his leadership in developing the PIM division structure and his leadership of PIM, PCO, and PMO these last several months. His efforts have been instrumental in defining how the Lab will support projects in the future. Kem will continue to lead PCO on an interim basis. Please join me in thanking Kem for his hard work, and in welcoming Bob to his new position.
Sincerely,
Michael Brandt
Deputy Lab Director for Operations and
Chief Operating Officer
