New Site Security Chief Announced

April 10, 2019

Dear LBNL Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that David von Damm will join the Lab to head up our security efforts as the LBNL Site Security Chief on May 6.

David comes to the Lab with more than 19 years of progressive responsibility and experience in security, most recently in Homeland Security at the Oakland International Airport where he served as the Federal Security Director, overseeing 480 security officers, managers, and staff. Prior to his work with TSA, he served as the Deputy Federal Security Director in Alaska for the Department of Homeland Security. He is currently a reserve officer in the U.S. Coast Guard, and previously served five years of active duty.

David will head the LBNL Site Security Office, which includes Physical Security, the Security Operations Center, the Site Access and Visitor Management program, Foreign Visitors and Assignments, and Personnel Security. David and the site security team will be working particularly close with both Emergency Management and Fire Protection and Prevention functions within Operations.  Please join me in welcoming David to LBNL and the Operations Leadership team.

Sincerely,

Ellen Ford
