A capacity crowd is expected at the Building 50 auditorium for today’s (June 20) town hall with University of California President Janet Napolitano and Lab Director Mike Witherell. Lab employees are invited to participate in the live-stream of the event from 1:15-2:00 p.m.
Napolitano’s visit to the Lab, her fifth during her nearly six-year term as UC President, includes discussions with Lab experts about wildfire science, water and energy, bioenergy, air quality, and carbon neutrality; lunch with Lab Science Undergraduate Laboratory Interns and UC Berkeley Bridge Fellows; and stops at Cyclotron Road, the new Integrative Genomics Building, and NERSC.
During the town hall, Witherell will interview Napolitano on a number of current topics. Employees at offsite locations are encouraged to join group viewings of the town hall at these locations:
Biosciences – 717 Potter Street, Gray Auditorium
JBEI – 5885 Hollis Street, 978-4111, CR Lobby Conference Rm.
JGI – 2800 Mitchell Drive, B100-149B
OCFO – 6401 Hollis Street, Room B971
Napolitano will take questions from the live and remote audiences as time allows. Lab employees participating remotely can submit questions before or during the town hall to communications@lbl.gov. Include your location when submitting a question.
As UC President, Napolitano leads the University of California system, including Berkeley Lab and two other DOE national labs, 10 UC campuses, and five UC medical centers. Previously she served as the U.S. Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security and as a two-term governor of Arizona.
