Lab Updates From Strategic Communications

Stay Alert for Wild Animals at the Lab at All Hours

February 19, 2020

Dear colleagues,

Two deer have been found dead in the past two weeks near the Molecular Foundry. The Lab’s Site Security team is working with experts to identify the predator that is attacking the deer. Please take action by using caution and be aware of your surroundings at all times, particularly in the evening and early morning hours, when predators are most likely out looking for a meal.

The Lab has over 200 acres of space shared with wildlife, and possible predators on the site include bobcats, coyotes, and mountain lions. Read more tips to keep you safe. Please contact the Site Operations Center at 510-486-6999 or x6999 if you have any questions.

Ellen Ford,

Deputy Chief Operations Officer
