Lab Services During Safe and Stable Operations
Operations personnel will be on call as needed during the shelter in place to assist in specific situations.
Site access: Effective at 5:00 p.m. March 17, 2020, Blackberry Gate will be the main gate in operation while the Lab is in safe and stable standby status. Blackberry Gate will be open 24 hours per day. Grizzly Gate will be open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. for exit only. The entrance lane will NOT be open. There will be a mandatory 100% Lab badge check at the gate. If you do not have your badge, please be prepared to show a government-issued ID and wait for employment validation before gaining site access.
Parking: Parking placards will not be mandated during this period and will not be accepted for site access.
Vendor Access: If you have a vendor that needs site access, call the Site Operations Center at 510-486-6999. They will verify you are a Lab employee then add the delivery vendor information to the same day visitor list.
Building access: Buildings will be placed in a weekend access mode. This means that you need a key or your Lab badge to gain access to your building. Your badge may not have the needed access levels for entry. If this is the case, please call the Site Operations Center at 510-486-6999.
Shuttles and Cafeteria: Shuttle and cafeteria services were discontinued after Monday, March 16.
Facilities staffing: Facilities will be continuing infrastructure maintenance to support safe and stable standby status. Please call your Facilities Area Manager (FAM) for any building issues. FAM contact information can be found in the A-Z listing.
Custodial services: Services will be limited to those services required to maintain a sanitary condition for those working onsite.
EHS: Available and on-call to support mission essential research and operations needs. It is important that these needs are identified and communicated to ensure an adequate level of resources are in place to be able to provide this support. Advance notice of 48 hours is ideal.
Health Services: Health Services is curtailing non-essential activities (e.g., voluntary health evaluations, optometry services) but will be available for triage/evaluation of work-related illness or injury. Route all suspected COVID-19 infection cases and exposures to Health Services immediately per the guidance in the FAQs.
Shipping & Receiving: The Lab will continue to receive essential deliveries. Research areas are asked to communicate with shipping & receiving via the Emergency Operations Center for any critical on anticipated deliveries or deliveries requiring special instructions. Guest House: Closed.
IT: Information Technology will maintain all IT help services and have intermittent essential personnel on-site for critical maintenance and support needs. Please review these IT Frequently Asked Questions.
OCFO: The Office of the Chief Financial Officer will be maintaining all support functions remotely.
Paychecks: Payroll recommends those who receive paper paychecks sign up for direct deposit through Employee Self Service, direct deposit tab on the left side of the page.
Procurement: Please review this revised guidance on purchasing from the OCFO.
HR/Benefits: Existing HR and Benefits support functions will all be available. The Lab is instituting remote onboarding for new employees and a remote exit process.
