Colleagues,
We have two important updates to tell you about today.
First, the DOE has authorized the Lab to continue to offer paid Administrative Leave to all eligible Berkeley Lab employees through Sept. 30, the end of the fiscal year, with no limit to the amount an individual may use, subject to the existing guidelines.
This significantly extends the previous limit of eight weeks of paid Administrative Leave per individual for qualified Lab employees. There is one important provision for its use as the Lab gradually brings people back on site: Once an employee has been called back to resume on-site work, paid Administrative Leave will no longer be available for the portion of that person’s on-site duties, but still would be available for the portion of time the employee is unable to work on site or telework.
Details are available at the Administrative Leave policy on the HR page.
Second, the Lab is automatically extending all existing temporary telework agreements through May 31, when the current Bay Area shelter-in-place orders are set to expire. A working group has been formed to explore the future of telework at the Lab and will make recommendations to the Lab’s senior leaders in the next few weeks.
Thank you for your support of Berkeley Lab’s mission. Please have a healthy and safe weekend.
Best regards,
Michael
