A Twist On the Traditional Runaround
For 42 years, the Runaround brought hundreds of employees together to run, walk, bike, and even hula hoop, up and down the hills of the Lab’s main site. This year, pandemic safety precautions and teleworking will not enable the traditional race to take place.
But the event will continue on Friday, Oct. 23, at noon!
This year, a new virtual approach will be used. Staff and their families are invited to participate in the Lab’s 43rd Runaround in one of two ways:
1. Via Zoom
Sign in and perform some type of exercise in your home. Activities can include:
-
- Dancing
- Walking
- Exercise bike or treadmill
- Yoga
- Squats
- Push-ups
Upbeat music will be provided to keep everyone motivated.
2. Outdoors with Photo Proof
Staff can also exercise outside, following all safety protocols. To prove completion of the activity:
-
- Take a screenshot or photo of your fitness app showing the distance
- Take a selfie, or have a family member take a photo of you completing the activity
GRAB A PHOTO OF YOU & YOUR FAMILY/BUBBLE MATES EXERCISING AND EMAIL IT TO COMMUNICATIONS@LBL.GOV. WE’LL SHARE THE IMAGES WITH THE LAB AFTER THE EVENT.
T-Shirts
Participants with an employee ID are eligible to receive a T-shirt. Fill out this form after the event has taken place to get one. The form can be sent in between Oct. 23 at 12:15 p.m. and Oct. 30, at 1 p.m.
You will also receive a t-shirt if you are willing to volunteer to stuff envelopes on a Saturday, Dec 5 or 12 (TBD), in compliance with all COVID-19 safety policies.
The t-shirts will be mailed in early December.
