Dear Operations Colleagues,
I want to reach out to you to clarify some changes we have made to the reporting structure of Protective Services to better meet the mission needs of the Laboratory.
Previously, the Emergency Management, Site Security, and the Fire Department groups made up Protective Services at the Lab. Last year these departments were moved to report into the Operations functions where the focus of their work is more closely aligned. Today, the Fire Department resides in Facilities, Emergency Management is now in Environmental Health and Safety, and Site Security reports directly to me as deputy to the Chief Operating Officer.
The Site Security Office, which includes Physical Security, the Security Operations Center, the Site Access and Visitor Management program, Foreign Visitors and Assignments, and Personnel Security, is now led by our new Site Security Chief David von Damm, who joined the Lab earlier this month. Moving Site Security into the Operations Directorate Officer underscores Site Security’s importance in providing the support needed in this area to help both research and operations deliver on the Lab’s mission.
Ellen Ford
Deputy Chief Operating Officer
